RESURFACING OF BUENA VISTA STREET AND EMPIRE AVENUE
BURBANK, Calif. (July 16, 2010) – Two upcoming projects will affect travel along Buena Vista Street (from Jeffries Avenue to the alley south of San Fernando Boulevard) and along Empire Avenue (from Naomi Street to Lincoln Street).
Buena Vista Street - In the first project, the City’s contractor, All American Asphalt, will grind and resurface Buena Vista Street from Jeffries Avenue to the alley south of San Fernando Boulevard. This project does not include the intersection with Empire Avenue nor the Vanowen Street/rail crossing (to be completed as separate projects). This last phase of an $824,000 project will begin July 19 and should be completed by early August. Vehicular traffic will remain open during construction but will be restricted during certain phases of the operation. Expect delays and detours during construction, announced by signage and changeable message boards. Parking will be restricted with appropriate, temporary signage.
On Saturday, July 24, the last phase of paving in the north and southbound lanes of Buena Vista will be the most restrictive phase of the work, with only one lane open in each direction all day. East-West cross streets will be closed except for local access much of the day, until all the Buena Vista asphalt has been placed, compacted and cooled. During the work, Empire will remain open to east and westbound traffic.
Your cooperation and patience is appreciated during the construction of this project. If you have any questions or concerns about this project, please contact the project manager, Anthony Roman, at (818) 238-3945.
Empire Avenue - The second project is being accomplished by contractors working for the developer of the new housing complex at the Empire Landing Development. They will resurface Empire Avenue from Naomi Street to Lincoln Street. The work will be done at night during the week of July 26. Striping and signal work will be complete by early August.
