Burbank City Manager Michael Flad is just where he wants to be, home.
A native of Burbank, Flad proudly serves as the City’s Chief Executive and works with a diverse and talented management team to carry out the policies and goals set forth by the Burbank City Council.
He began his career with the City of Burbank more than 20 years ago in a variety of roles including Workers Compensation Coordinator, Administrative Analyst, and later as Assistant to the City Manager.
In 1998, Flad accepted the position of Assistant City Manager for the City of Ukiah in Northern California. In 2000, he was offered the opportunity to return home to Burbank as Park, Recreation, and Community Services Director. Three years later, he was named Assistant City Manager. In January 2009, he saw a lifelong dream fulfilled as he took the oath of office as Burbank City Manager.
Flad is a member of numerous local and national organizations including The League of California Cities, Municipal Management Association of Southern California, International City Managers Association, and American Society for Public Administration. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Burbank Chamber of Commerce.
He earned his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and M.P.A. from California State University, Northridge.
